First Fridays

The Center in conjuction with the Missoula Cultural Council and Missoula Downtown Association hosts First Fridays art shows on the first Friday of each month. Artists featured are usually connected to the Center in some way or have GLBTIQ thrainbowemes in their shows and pieces. The shows typically run from 5pm to 7pm, although many shows run longer depending on the availability of the artist. For a complete list of all locations and their artists visit First Friday's website.

If you are interested in booking your art into our space, please contact Mija who is the First Friday committee head. We still have many openings for 2012 and also book in advance for 2013. Artists usually keep their work in the Center for most of the month and are expected to make a small donation to the Center if they sell any pieces. We are also looking for pieces that can be donated to our annual silent auction portion of the Black and White Ball.

Artists Statement
I am interested in human beings – in our divine, powerful, and creative nature as well as our raw, animalistic qualities.   We are contradictions, constantly creating and destroying, blooming and decomposing, wise and blind, beautiful and grotesque, brainwashed by the media and rooted to the natural world, fighting for basic survival while grasping to connect to something beyond mundane existence.  My characters are in a constant vulnerable state of revelation, confusion, ecstasy, and anguish, wandering the universe as both animals and divinities.

Pitied and revered.

Disease and shaman.

Human being.
